What this policy covers
This policy applies to glintiss.co.uk, dryannis.co.uk, app.dryannis.co.uk, events.dryannis.co.uk and labs.dryannis.co.uk. It also covers the Dr Yannis SQE Newsletter and our related enquiries, events, bookings and educational services.
Some of our pages link to services run by other organisations, such as the SRA, YouTube, Substack, Facebook, payment providers and video-conferencing platforms. Their own privacy policies apply when you use their websites or services.
Information we collect and why
The information we process depends on what you do. It may include your name and email address; messages you send us; newsletter subscription records; event applications and booking details; payment status and transaction records; information you choose to share during an event; WordPress comments; and technical information such as your IP address, browser type, pages requested and access times.
If you use Dr Yannis Labs, we also process the account and Mistake Lab information described below. Please do not send us confidential or sensitive information unless it is necessary for the service or enquiry concerned.
We use information to provide our websites and educational services, answer enquiries, manage subscriptions and events, maintain security, prevent misuse, resolve faults and meet our legal and accounting obligations. We do not sell personal information.
Our lawful bases
We rely on consent to send the SQE Newsletter to people who request it and for other optional communications where consent is required. You may withdraw that consent at any time.
We process information where necessary to provide a service you have requested or take steps before entering a contract. This can include administering a Labs account, saving Mistake Lab progress, considering an event application, managing a booking and taking payment.
We rely on legitimate interests where appropriate to run and improve our educational services, respond to enquiries, protect our websites and accounts, prevent spam or fraud, assess suitability for limited-capacity events, manage potential conflicts of interest and keep proportionate business records. We consider people’s reasonable expectations and rights before relying on this basis.
We process some information to comply with legal obligations, including company, accounting and tax requirements.
Website visits and technical information
Our hosting and technical providers may process IP addresses, browser and device details, requested pages, access times, referral information and security logs. We use this information to deliver our sites, maintain security, investigate faults and prevent misuse.
Some pages obtain fonts or software from external providers, including Google Fonts and jsDelivr. Requesting those resources may disclose your IP address and technical connection information to the provider.
The SQE study app at app.dryannis.co.uk
The study planner and question-bank functions at app.dryannis.co.uk may use browser storage to remember your answers, progress and preferences. This progress is kept in your browser. It is not saved to a personal GlinTiss account or synchronised across devices.
Locally stored progress may be lost if you clear site data, change browser or device, use a private browsing window or disable browser storage. This storage supports the study functions you request; it is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. Ordinary hosting and security logs may still be created when you visit the app.
Dr Yannis Labs accounts
At labs.dryannis.co.uk, you can use an email sign-in link to access Labs and its available learning resources. Supabase provides account authentication. Your email address and account identifier are used to create and maintain your account, recognise you when you return, provide access and deal with account enquiries. Sign-in links and essential account messages are service communications.
Your browser stores the information needed to maintain your signed-in session. Signing out ends that session on the device. Clearing site data may also end the local session, but it does not delete your account or saved Mistake Lab progress.
Creating a Labs account does not subscribe you to the SQE Newsletter.
Mistake Lab
Mistake Lab is a beta learning resource within Dr Yannis Labs. For each question you attempt, we save the question identifier, your most recent selected answer, your stated level of confidence, whether that answer was correct, the number of attempts, the time of your latest answer and whether you added the question to your review queue.
We use this information to show your progress and review queue when you return, including on another device. Mistake Lab keeps the latest result and an attempt count for each question, rather than a complete record of every attempt. Supabase processes this account-linked information on our behalf.
Mistake Lab may link to SRA questions and to learning resources on YouTube, Substack or other websites. If you open one of those links, the destination may process information about your visit under its own privacy policy.
SQE Newsletter
You may request the SQE Newsletter by emailing newsletter@glintiss.co.uk with “subscribe” in the subject line. Signed-in Labs users can instead submit the separate newsletter form on the Labs gateway. Subscribing is optional and is not a condition of using Labs or Mistake Lab.
For a request made through the Labs form, we collect the name you enter, your signed-in email address, your Labs account identifier, the date and time of your request and the subscription statement submitted with the form. Netlify processes the form submission and sends us a notification. We manage the subscriber list and newsletter manually.
The newsletter normally contains an SQE-style multiple-choice question, supporting material and related educational information. We use subscriber information to record your request and consent, send the newsletter, administer the list and answer subscription enquiries. We do not sell subscriber information or share it for unrelated third-party marketing. Email and technical providers may process information as needed to provide the service.
You can unsubscribe at any time by emailing newsletter@glintiss.co.uk with “unsubscribe” in the subject line. We will remove your address from the active distribution list. We may keep a limited record of your choice where necessary to demonstrate that it was respected and avoid further unwanted emails. Unsubscribing does not delete your Labs account or Mistake Lab progress.
Event applications, bookings and workshops
If you apply for or book an event, we may collect your name, contact details and information reasonably needed to assess the application. We may use it to decide whether the event is suitable, manage capacity, identify potential conflicts of interest, communicate a decision, take payment and administer attendance. Submitting an application does not guarantee a place.
We may retain relevant correspondence, payment status, attendance information and accounting records after an event where needed for business or legal purposes. An external payment provider may process payments; we do not normally receive or store complete payment-card details.
We will tell participants if a livestream or workshop is to be recorded. Please avoid sharing confidential or sensitive information in public event chats or discussions.
Comments on glintiss.co.uk
If you leave a comment, we process the information entered in the comment form together with your IP address and browser user-agent information to help detect spam. A hash derived from your email address may be sent to Gravatar to check whether you use that service. If your comment is approved, your profile picture may appear publicly alongside it. Gravatar’s privacy information explains its processing.
Comments may be checked by an automated spam-detection service.
Cookies and browser storage
WordPress may offer to save your name, email address and website in cookies when you comment, so you do not have to enter them again. These cookies can last for one year.
WordPress may use a temporary cookie to check whether your browser accepts cookies when you visit a login page. WordPress login and display-preference cookies may be set if you log in to WordPress; their duration depends on the setting used, including any “Remember Me” option. Editing or publishing an article may set a short-lived cookie identifying the article.
The separate Labs sign-in uses browser storage to maintain your Supabase session. The older SQE study app uses browser storage for local study progress, as described above. Clearing browser data can remove these local records or end a session.
On glintiss.co.uk, Real Cookie Banner provides controls for cookie preferences and consent records. You can use the privacy controls displayed on that site to change your settings, view their history or withdraw applicable consent. Information about Real Cookie Banner’s processing is available from its provider. The Labs sign-in storage is used to provide the account service, not for advertising.
Embedded content and external links
Some pages may contain content embedded from another website, such as a video. An embedded item may behave as though you visited that provider’s site: the provider may collect technical information, use cookies or recognise you if you are signed in to its service. External links take you to a separate website governed by its own privacy policy.
Who receives information
We use providers where necessary to operate our services. These include Netlify for Labs hosting and newsletter form submissions; Supabase for Labs authentication and saved Mistake Lab progress; website hosting, email and technical-service providers; event, booking and payment providers; video-conferencing platforms; security, backup and spam-detection services; and professional advisers. We may also disclose information to a public authority where legally required.
Providers receive information relevant to the service they perform. We do not sell personal information.
International processing
Some providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where a transfer is subject to UK data-protection restrictions, we assess the applicable requirements and use an appropriate legal transfer mechanism or safeguard where required. You may ask us for further information using the privacy contact details above.
How long we keep information
We keep information for the time reasonably needed for its purpose, taking account of legal, accounting, security and dispute-resolution requirements.
In particular:
- Labs account details and Mistake Lab progress are kept while the account remains active. You may request deletion of your account and associated progress by emailing ioannis.glinavos@glintiss.co.uk. Limited records may be retained where there is a continuing legal or security reason.
- Active newsletter details are kept while you remain subscribed. Limited consent or suppression records may be kept after you unsubscribe where needed to demonstrate or respect your choice.
- Enquiries and ordinary correspondence are kept for as long as needed to respond and maintain an appropriate record.
- Information from an unsuccessful event application is normally deleted within 12 months after the event, unless needed for a complaint or legal matter.
- Booking, transaction and accounting records may be kept for up to six years, or longer where law requires.
- Comments and associated metadata may be retained so that follow-up comments can be recognised and moderated.
- Security logs and backups are kept for periods determined by security and operational needs.
We may delete information sooner when it is no longer needed.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information from unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure and loss. No online service or ordinary email is completely risk-free, so please avoid sending unnecessary confidential or sensitive information.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to access your personal information, correct it, ask for its deletion, restrict its use, object to processing based on legitimate interests, object to direct marketing, or receive certain information in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. These rights are subject to the conditions and exemptions in data-protection law.
To make a request, email ioannis.glinavos@glintiss.co.uk. We may ask for information needed to confirm your identity. You can also use this address to request deletion of a Labs account and its Mistake Lab progress.
