Preparing for the University of London LA1040 Contract Law assessment in October 2026?
This focused 90-minute online workshop will help you succeed. Designed for SQE candidates, this event will help anyone preparing for an undergraduate law examination in the English Law of Contract.
Review essential Contract Law principles, prepare for the compulsory MCQ element and develop a practical approach to directed problems and questions.

Assessment-focused preparation
Understanding the LA1040 assessment
The 2026 assessment consists of two unseen elements. The workshop addresses the skills required for both parts.
Multiple-choice element: 25%
This consists of 25 compulsory questions. Once started, the online test must be completed within one hour.
Examination element: 75%
This part of the exam consists of 1) a compulsory directed problem question, and 2) it also requires two answers from a choice of five and may cover any part of the syllabus.
Workshop programme
Two focused 45-minute sessions
Session One
Contract Law foundations
Consolidate the core principles of English Contract Law, understand how the main topics connect and focus on the legal analysis needed for the compulsory directed problem question.
Session Two
MCQs, problem questions and essays
Practise identifying what a Contract Law MCQ is testing, eliminating distractors, applying authority to facts, structuring directed problem answers and planning effective problem and essay responses.
Who is this workshop for?
The session will benefit undergraduate law students preparing for the LA1040 Contract Law assessment in October 2026, including students taking or resitting the module.
SQE Candidates revising Contract Law and anyone studying English Contract Law at undergraduate level.
